What happened to YOU at the polls?

I would love to hear what happened to you at the polls good, bad, indifferent. Make sure you say the state you voted in and the specifics about the voting location when you are commenting to this post. I may decide to send this information to each Secretary of State to let them know what gives. Well I am off to call the board of elections in my state and let them know about what happened to me at the polls. Check out my post here: A scan-ty vote Let me hear it! 🙂

A Scan-ty Vote!

Well I have been waiting for this day for along time as I am sure most have been. The ads, the debates, the campaigning, I am sure has us all a little weary as well as the candidates. So I hope that you are reading this either before or after you have voted. Makes no difference when just make sure that you get to be heard in this historical election.

I just had to quickly come and blog about this. I all my years of being a voter and a part of the attentive public have I been so disguised. Some may think all no big deal pull up your big girl panties as a friend tell me, lol!

This is something to think about, I was totally uncomfortable with the location of where I voted. Not the building but my seating arrangement. Yes most of us vote standing up but I had for the first time in my voting life had the opportunity to sit down. Wow you say, well it was cramped and I had to interrupt another voter in order to get to my seat. Might I say that this was not well thought out. The idea is good but needed some more tweaking because there are those that need to sit due to ailments, handicaps and I thing this was all inclusive of them.

What really concerns me is that, I feel that my vote won’t be counted due to the scanning machine.

My Mom went with me to vote as well. I finished voting after changing my sitting at another seat due to the fact that the table was not conducive for filling out a ballot, ugh! Not only was it loud, I mean the poll workers were talking about their personal business while voters were reading their ballots and trying to concentrate.Eventually someone ask them to please refrain from discussing their personal business and keep the conversation to the voting genre.

Unbelievable, I mean it’s cool to talk some but not the appropriate place to discuss your groceries and grocery bill, your son’s pool, the neighbors dog. I kid you not here.

From what I understand conversation is limited to voting issues and they are to be alert for voters who may have questions, problems with voting, or concerns about their vote. Oh there was a conversation about if the media showed up then they (the poll workers) are to say nothing just make a note on the pink slip what channel they are from.

That can’t happen if the groceries, the phone bill, what they are having for dinner is a topic of discussion. It was twitter live, lol! 😉 These poll workers in my opinion need the pink slip

Well it doesn’t stop there not only are you aggravated because your physical voting place is not comfortable to be accurate on your voting ballot but you are being distracted with necessary talk. Now it gets good. You take your ballot(s) up to the poll worker who then places the ballot(s) in the scanning machine. This is a machine and subject to error, error Will Robinson! Before my mom places her ballot in the poll worker is standing behind the machine and feeding a ballot in the machine. Now this could be a calibration ballot who knows but it brings about suspicion.

My mom asks, “Where’s the voter ?” The poll worker says loudly , “OOoops there is something wrong with this machine!” Then asks my mom to place her ballot in the machine. C’Mon!
This does not instill confidence in a new system at all. Especially for a senior citizen who is my mom. My mom politely told the poll worker no and not until she gets someone to come over here and take a look at this machine before she places her ballot in the scanner. Well someone did come over and say all was well. But the damage is done in the mind of the voter feeling that their vote will not count in this important election.

Well I just had to vent and tell you all to watch those scanner because your vote could be a scan-ty vote, lol!

Off to call the board of elections and inform them of this. Nothing maybe done but they need to know regardless.

Will let you know how that goes in another post later.

The update is…
Now that we have a new President and some of the fog is beginning to settle (mostly in my head) or should I say a twilight zone cloud that I have finally come down on, lol, I will update you on this post. I put the call into the board of elections and was told that they will be letting the B.O.E. troubleshooters know about it. Yes I felt a little skeptical about that (remembering the past, ugh).

All I can say is that someone was told hopefully. It was kind of cool watching the lady take down my name on the television, as I was talking to her. You see one of the local news stations had volunteer call in lines for reporting voting problems. As per the news on election night there were about 25 scanners reported defective and all where fixed except for 5, those were replaced. From the last news cast of the new President elect those scanners were for all of Stark, Cuyahoga, and Summit counties couldn’t say about the rest of the state of Ohio. So basically I would say that the B.O.E. was prepared statewide for messes, as we have known in the past to happen in key states. I feel better that my compliant was taken very seriously in the past historical momentous election. I really felt that someone sincerely cared about my vote for the first time in my voting life. 🙂

🙂

Oh Obama!

Well the trickle down theory is getting ready to be an avalanche as news reports are coming all over the states about the Democratic nomination for Barack. With a few more states for each candidate to run in the primaries. The Democratic superdelegates are stating that it is time for them to back Barack and support him to unite the Democratic party.

With more endorsements coming in everyday, the superdelegates are the ones who will decide the party’s nomination for president. The latest superdelegates are from Utah, Ohio, and Arizona, and the two Virgin Islands who had previously backed Clinton. These additions enabled Barack to surpass Clinton for the first time in the campaign.

For Clinton to regain momentum she would have to do it by a wide margin. The idea of having Barack as president is beginning to gel and what the Democratic party was waiting for was either candidate to clearly establish themselves as the clear leader. They feel Barack has done that.

Now with this turning of events superficial talks of Clinton as Obama’s Vice President are beginning to grow. See what he says it’s still early….

What I think………..Although from the beginning I was torn between the two and was concerned that both were going for the same position. I have said all along that they would be great together to run this country and get us back on track. Our economic structure has taken a huge hit with unemployment rising everyday and the cost for bare essential items surmounting it has been difficult for the American people to survive. We need a boost and they can do it as President and Vice President.
