Its a hold up!

The U.S. Supreme Court today ruled in favor of Americans bearing arms in their homes for their protection against urban crime. Americans now have the right to own guns in their homes for self protection.

The court’s 5-4 ruling struck down the District of Columbia’s 32-year-old ban on handguns as incompatible with gun rights under the 2nd Amendment. Forty four state already have state laws for guns and will not be affected by this ruling.

The basic issue for the justices was whether the amendment protects an individual’s right to own guns no matter what, or whether that right is somehow tied to service in a state militia.

The Constitution does not permit “the absolute prohibition of handguns held and used for self-defense in the home,” Scalia said. The court also struck down Washington’s requirement that firearms be equipped with trigger locks or kept disassembled, but left intact the licensing of guns.

Guns Allowed in the home.

Guns and more guns a Supreme Court Ruling.

What I think….I pose a question will you have a gun in your home?

A Shaq Slap!

Shaquille O’neal will loose his special deputy badge due to an inappropriate language he used in a rap video that mocks former teammate Kobe Bryant.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, said he is not having that at all. He wouldn’t expect any of his deputies to conduct themselves with such behavior and will not tolerate this type of racial conduct. He wants both of Shaq’s badges back.

Shaq gets slapped by sheriff for rap about Bryant

“I was freestyling. That’s all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever,” O’Neal told ESPN.com Monday. Well Sheriff Joe Arpaio said you can be free.

What I think….being a role model should mean something in this day and age, when there are far and few in between.  When a person has positioned themselves in a  public office to be a public servant, the public is expects a certain behavior to be above the rest. That is all!

Do you like roller coaster rides?

They are at it again Microsoft and Yahoo. I blogged on this story sometime ago and now they are at it again. Now that Yahoo stock is trading anywhere now between $21.00 – $22.19, it is stated that Yahoo stockholders wouldn’t goff at the $33 per share price Microsoft offered a few months ago.

Who knows where this ride is going to take us. It’s a timing game and who can wait out the longest, Yang, Microsoft or Yahoo shareholders. This is the first real boost Yahoo! has gotten since announcing less than two weeks ago that it had broken off discussions with Microsoft about selling its search business, an alternative to an outright takeover.

Try to figure this one out:

What I think……I’m going to go for another spin on the roller coaster and see if I can see the forest for the trees.

Tiger, Plays to Play

Tiger’s 14th major victory, accomplished Monday over 19 holes in a U.S. Open playoff, may go down as golf’s greatest triumph.

Tiger Woods has won the 2008 U.S. Open Championship despite the odds of his surgery about a few months ago. His doctor told him it wouldn’t be a good idea to play. Tiger’s answer, “I play to play.”

Not a bat of the eye his facial expression firm on the that thought that he is a super athlete that plays through forever.

Got to love this mind set and we know that he is a driven man who will never quit. Despite his critical review of himself by having a bad start everyday except one, how many of us would like to have those bad days and still win some cool millions ?

I think this is probably the best ever,” Woods said. “All things considered, I don’t know how I ended up in this position, to be honest with you. It was a long week. A lot of doubt, a lot of questions going into the week. And here we are, 91 holes later.”

What I think…. No matter what you may think of him personally, one thing is for sure. He is a superior athlete no holds barred hands down!

Cybery Bulling and update

I posted a blog on May 16th about a 13 year old girl that committed suicide due to a MySpace relationship she developed with a fraudulent MySpacer. Here is the update so far about it.

It seems that Lori Drew, 49, a neighbor of the deceased teen, has so far avoided state charges — but not federal ones.

Missouri police didn’t file any charges against Drew in part because there was no applicable state law. In response to the case, Missouri legislators gave final approval to a bill making cyber harassment illegal.

The charges were filed in California where MySpace is based.

Here’s my blog about it:

Here’s the update:

Cyber bullying Update

This case as unfortunate as it is maybe open to some challenges.

What I think…..Refer to my first blog post, that thought still stands.

A Stimulating Mess!

Have you received your stimulus check from the IRS yet? If things in the economy aren’t horrid enough, it has been reported that the IRS has sent out double stimulus checks to taxpayers, while some still are waiting for their first stimulus check.

The IRS said in May that about 1,500 payments were sent to the wrong accounts.

Through June 6, the U.S. Treasury had sent 66.6 million payments totaling about $56.8 billion. Altogether, an estimated 130 million payments will be made this year.

Barbara Steinmetz, a certified financial planner and enrolled agent with Steinmetz Financial Planning in San Mateo, Calif., told her client not to cash the second check. (Enrolled agents are tax preparers who are licensed to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service.)

“Don’t cash it and hope [the IRS] won’t catch it. They have some very sophisticated matching programs,” Steinmetz said. “They are capable of tracking it if you got more than one. Don’t think it’s a windfall.”

The IRS agreed. “If a taxpayer receives more than one stimulus payment the erroneous additional payment should be returned to the IRS,” the tax agency said in an emailed statement.

If the erroneous payment was a paper check, write “void” in the endorsement section on the back of the check, and attach a note that says you are returning an “erroneous stimulus payment check,” the IRS said.

Considering all this some second payments are not erroneous. I noticed from a notification that I was sent from the IRS that there was a cut off for an eligible child of December 31, 1990. I thought that quite strange in that my child was born just 5 days before the deadline. Hmmm, I thought to myself how can this be. So off the make a phone call to inquire about this since nothing was stated on any online tax forms I filled out. The verdict is still out on that one.
If you are still waiting the IRS is telling those to be patient as payments will be sent well into July. I have also been told from a reliable source that the IRS is behind in these stimulus payments. Clerks and agents are doing special duty due to the backup.
